New ListServs For Our Church Family |
We thank God for the blessing of our sister, Kamilah Martin-Proctor. She is leading an effort to empower our members to connect in a new and convenient way. She has established two "listservs" (NSBCDC and NSBCDCParents) using Yahoo Groups. These listservs make it easy to engage in ongoing online discussions with members of the group. To get started, visit Yahoo Groups and search for the appropriate group. Questions? Please contact Sister Martin-Proctor at kamilahproctor@gmail.com. |
Obama Family Visits 19th Street |
On January 18th Pastor Harkins delivered a powerful sermon from the Book of Esther. In addition to our church family and many visitors, those gathered in worship included the then President-elect, Barack Obama and his family. Pastor Harkins' sermon included a reminder to all of us that we very well might have been prepared and placed where we are "For Such A Time As This". |

Health Ministry |
The health ministry at Nineteenth Street enthusiastically embraces the key role that churches can play in health promotion and disease prevention in the faith-based and wider community. The church is an ideal setting to establish preventive health care programs because of its capability to provide services focused on the functional needs of people. Please visit our listing on the "Ministries" page for more information. |

Community-Wide Hymn Sing At Kennedy Center |
You'll be blessed by this fantastic video from the recent Community-Wide Hymn sing held at the The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Members of choirs from across the city, region and country came together for this special praise-in-song performance. Many of our brothers and sisters from the 19th Street Baptist Church music ministry were part of the mass choir, which was more than 4000 members strong. To God be the glory!
